CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
arm64: tlb: Flush walk cache when unsharing PMD tables
When huge_pmd_unshare() is called to unshare a PMD table, the
tlb_unshare_pmd_ptdesc() function sets tlb->unshared_tables=true
but the aarch64 tlb_flush() only checked tlb->freed_tables to
determine whether to use TLBF_NONE (vae1is, invalidates walk
cache) or TLBF_NOWALKCACHE (vale1is, leaf-only).
This caused the stale PMD page table entry to remain in the walk cache
after unshare, potentially leading to incorrect page table walks.
Fix by including unshared_tables in the check, so that when
unsharing tables, TLBF_NONE is used and the walk cache is properly
invalidated.
Here is the detailed distinction between vae1is and vale1is:
| Instruction Combination | Actual Invalidation Scope |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------|
| `VAE1IS` + TTL=`0` | All entries at all levels (full invalidation) |
| `VAE1IS` + TTL=`2` (L2) | Non-leaf at Level 0/1 + leaf at Level 2 |
| `VALE1IS` + TTL=`0` | Leaf entries at all levels (non-leaf not cleared) |
| `VALE1IS` + TTL=`2` (L2) | Leaf entry at Level 2 only | |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usbip: vudc: Fix use after free bug in vudc_remove due to race condition
This patch follows up Zheng Wang's 2023 report of a use-after-free in
vudc_remove(). The original thread stalled on Shuah Khan's request for
runtime testing of the unplug/unbind path. This patch supplies that
testing and keeps Zheng's original fix shape.
In vudc_probe(), v_init_timer() binds udc->tr_timer.timer to v_timer().
usbip_sockfd_store() starts the timer via v_start_timer()/v_kick_timer().
vudc_remove() can then free the containing struct vudc while the timer is
still pending or executing.
KASAN confirms the race on an unpatched x86_64 QEMU guest with
CONFIG_KASAN=y, CONFIG_USBIP_VUDC=y, CONFIG_USB_ZERO=y, and a tight loop
that repeatedly writes a socket fd to usbip_sockfd, closes the socket
pair, and unbinds/rebinds usbip-vudc.0:

This lands in the timer core rather than v_timer() itself because the
embedded timer_list is being walked after its containing struct vudc has
already been freed. The underlying lifetime bug is the same one Zheng
reported.
With v_stop_timer() called from vudc_remove() and the timer deleted
synchronously, the same harness completed 5000 bind/unbind iterations
with no KASAN report. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: musb: omap2430: Fix use-after-free in omap2430_probe()
In omap2430_probe(), of_node_put(np) is called prematurely before the
last access to np, leading to a use-after-free if the node's reference
count drops to zero. Move the of_node_put() calls after the last use of
np in both the success and error paths. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
hpfs: fix a crash if hpfs_map_dnode_bitmap fails
If hpfs_map_dnode_bitmap fails, the code would call hpfs_brelse4 on
uninitialized quad buffer head, causing a crash. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: buffer: hw-consumer: fix use-after-free in error path
In the err_put_buffers cleanup path of iio_hw_consumer_alloc(), the code
was using list_for_each_entry() to iterate through buffers while calling
iio_buffer_put() which can free the current buffer if refcount drops to 0.
The list_for_each_entry() loop macro then evaluates buf->head.next to
continue iteration, accessing the freed buffer.
Fix this by using list_for_each_entry_safe(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: adc: mt6359: fix unchecked return value in mt6358_read_imp
In mt6358_read_imp(), the variable val_v is passed to regmap_read()
but the return value is not checked. If the read fails, val_v remains
uninitialized and its random stack content is subsequently reported
as a measurement result.
Initialize val_v to zero to ensure a predictable value is reported
in case of bus failure and to prevent potential stack data leakage.
This also satisfies static analyzers that might otherwise flag the
variable as used uninitialized. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: rds: fix uninitialized trans dereference in CM event handler
rds_rdma_cm_event_handler_cmn() assigns trans only when the RDMA
device is an InfiniBand CA (RDMA_NODE_IB_CA). On any other device
type, e.g. an iWARP RNIC such as siw, trans stays uninitialized, but
the event switch dereferences it: unconditionally in the
RDMA_CM_EVENT_CONNECT_REQUEST case via trans->cm_handle_connect(),
and (with a connection context) in the ROUTE_RESOLVED and
ESTABLISHED cases.
An RDS listener on an iWARP device therefore crashes the kernel as
soon as a connect request arrives: with CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL_ZERO
the wild load becomes a NULL dereference at offset 0xa0
(&trans->cm_handle_connect) in the iw_cm_wq workqueue.
GCC masks the bug in default builds by folding the uninitialized
load into &rds_ib_transport; Clang-built kernels take the real
uninitialized path and oops.
The active side can land on a non-IB device too: the id that
rds_ib_conn_path_connect() creates is not restricted to a node type,
so rdma_resolve_addr() binds it to whichever device serves the local
address, and an iWARP RNIC on the same netdev qualifies. The crash
there is different: resolving a route on an iWARP id never fills in
cm_id->route.path_rec, and the ROUTE_RESOLVED case writes
path_rec[0].sl before it calls into the transport.
The iWARP transport was dropped long ago and IB is the only
transport left, so make that explicit: initialize trans to
&rds_ib_transport at declaration, drop the conditional assignment,
reject a connect request that arrives on a non-IB device, and drop a
connection whose address resolved to one instead of resolving a
route on it. The rejection is limited to RDMA_CM_EVENT_CONNECT_REQUEST
on purpose: a non-zero return from the handler makes rdma_cm destroy
the id the event was delivered on, which is right for the request's
freshly created id but would free a connection id that RDS still owns
for any other event. On the active side the id stays ic->i_cm_id and
the connection's shutdown destroys it, so that case returns 0.
[achender: reject only on RDMA_CM_EVENT_CONNECT_REQUEST instead of
bailing out for every event on a non-IB device, so that rdma_cm does
not destroy connection ids RDS still tracks; drop a connection whose
address resolved to a non-IB device before a route is resolved on it;

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ocfs2/dlm: Protect the recovery list during debugfs reads
Recovery participant records must remain alive while debug_state_print()
walks reco.node_data and formats their fields. The formatter holds
dlm->spinlock, but the recovery participant list is protected by
dlm_reco_state_lock. In particular, dlm_destroy_recovery_area() detaches
the list under dlm_reco_state_lock and frees the detached records after
releasing it. A concurrent debugfs open can therefore read freed memory.
Protect the participant traversal and field reads in debug_state_print()
with dlm_reco_state_lock, matching the existing list writers. This also
serializes the traversal against list_add_tail() during recovery-area
initialization. Make the existing lock available to the debug code
through dlmcommon.h; the lock remains internal to the OCFS2 DLM module.
Release dlm->spinlock after formatting the other domain state and before
acquiring dlm_reco_state_lock, so the debug reader does not nest the two
locks. Leave recovery list insertion, detachment and freeing unchanged.

ntfs3: free the sbi after a grace period
If the "nocase" mount option ntfs3 uses custom hash and dentry compare
functions. Both access ntfs3 superblock private information in rcu
pathwalk. ntfs_put_super() and ntfs3_kill_sb() drop the info without any
rcu delay. A lookup that's still inside the filesystem when the last
reference to the mount is dropped causes a UAF. With a pathwalk held up
in ntfs_d_hash() while the last reference to the mount goes away:

The bug is currently masked by the grace period in namespace_unlock()

private info is freed and free it with an rcu delay.
ntfs3_free_sbi() now runs from an rcu callback and drops the upcase
table via ntfs_put_shared(). So switch s_shared_lock over to
spin_lock_bh(). Otherwise the callback can deadlock against a task
holding the lock on the same cpu. |

tcp: fix use-after-free in do_tcp_getsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION)
do_tcp_getsockopt() reads icsk->icsk_ca_ops->name without holding
rcu_read_lock(). Since commit 0baf26b0fcd7 ("bpf: tcp: Support
tcp_congestion_ops in bpf"), icsk_ca_ops can point to dynamically
allocated BPF struct_ops memory that may be freed concurrently via

tcp: fix use-after-free in do_tcp_getsockopt(TCP_CC_INFO)
do_tcp_getsockopt() reads icsk->icsk_ca_ops and dereferences the
get_info function pointer without rcu_read_lock(). With BPF struct_ops
congestion control, ca_ops can point to dynamically allocated memory
that is freed concurrently, resulting in a use-after-free when the

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sched_ext: Fix stall when a task enqueued with SCX_ENQ_LAST lands back on its CPU's local DSQ
With SCX_OPS_ENQ_LAST, the last runnable task on a CPU is passed to
ops.enqueue() instead of being kept running. Exiting tasks without
SCX_OPS_ENQ_EXITING, migration disabled tasks without
SCX_OPS_ENQ_MIGRATION_DISABLED and tasks on an offline rq skip ops.enqueue()
and go straight to the local DSQ. This happens in put_prev_task_scx() after
the pick has settled on idle, so nothing reschedules the CPU, which idles
with the task queued until an unrelated wakeup lands on it or the watchdog
fires.
scx_mitosis, which sets SCX_OPS_ENQ_LAST without SCX_OPS_ENQ_EXITING, hit
this during mass cgroup teardown: exiting tasks stuck in exit_mmap() for
over 40 seconds.
A task put on the local DSQ runs, as anywhere else. If the SCX_ENQ_LAST
enqueue left the task on this CPU's local DSQ, set need_resched on the task
being switched in, as proxy_resched_idle() does. resched_curr() would flag
the task being put instead, and __schedule() clears that right after the
pick. |

wifi: brcmfmac: fix P2P device removal race in brcmf_detach()
When the driver is removed while the user space process that created
the P2P device (e.g. wpa_supplicant) is still exiting, the P2P device
interface is removed twice and the kernel crashes.
The two paths are:
- wpa_supplicant, on exit, sends NL80211_CMD_DEL_INTERFACE for the P2P
device. nl80211_del_interface() holds RTNL and the wiphy mutex and
calls brcmf_p2p_del_vif(), which disables discovery and waits up to
1.5 s for BRCMF_E_IF_DEL. Then it calls brcmf_remove_interface(),
which unregisters the wdev and frees the vif and the ifp.
- brcmf_detach() sets the bus down, so BRCMF_E_IF_DEL never arrives,
and calls brcmf_remove_interface(ifp, false) for the same ifp.
brcmf_p2p_ifp_removed() reads ifp->vif and then blocks on
rtnl_lock(). When brcmf_p2p_del_vif() releases RTNL, it calls
cfg80211_unregister_wdev() on the wdev that was already unregistered
and freed.

The log was taken with debug=0x406 on an i.MX 8M Plus board with a
CYW55513 (Sona IF513) on SDIO. The driver is the Ezurio backport of
brcmfmac from v6.18.22 on a 5.4-rt kernel. The code involved is the same
in mainline.
To reproduce:
1. Start wpa_supplicant on wlan0 and let it associate. It creates the
P2P device (iw dev shows "type P2P-device").
2. Stop wpa_supplicant and remove the driver without waiting for
wpa_supplicant to exit:
kill $(pidof wpa_supplicant)
rmmod brcmfmac_cyw brcmfmac
The crash is reproducible on that board.
For the interface without a netdev (the P2P device), take RTNL and the
wiphy mutex in brcmf_detach() before reading iflist, and remove it with
locked=true. If brcmf_p2p_del_vif() runs first, brcmf_detach() finds the
slot empty. If brcmf_detach() runs first, nl80211 does not find the wdev
any more. The interfaces with a netdev are removed as before, because
brcmf_del_if() takes RTNL on its own for the primary interface. |

CPU 0: find the node under RCU and release the node read lock
CPU 1: tipc_node_timeout() clears the links and unlinks the down node
CPU 1: drop the list and timer references, queuing tipc_node_free()
CPU 0: leave the RCU read-side critical section
CPU 1: complete the grace period and free the node
CPU 0: acquire the node lock through the stale pointer
LINK_SET also uses the node's media address after releasing the node lock,
when passing queued packets to tipc_bearer_xmit().

Acquire a reference to the selected node with kref_get_unless_zero() before
leaving RCU, returning NULL if the node has already been released. Release
that reference on every caller exit after the last node access, including
transmission in LINK_SET. Keep the existing link lookup order and locking
so concurrent link removal still takes the existing error paths. |
