CVSS v3.1 |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 5.1.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow takes quadratic time to reserve PDF object identifiers when saving many frames with save_all enabled. PdfParser.next_object_id() repeatedly rebuilds and scans all previously reserved identifiers for every object. An attacker can supply a multi-frame image, including a small APNG with a large declared frame count, to an application that converts it to a multipage PDF. This can consume excessive CPU and deny service. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 11.0.0 until 13.0.0, Exif.load() in src/PIL/Image.py repeatedly slices the remaining EXIF data while it begins with the six-byte Exif header. src/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py accepts an uncapped PNG eXIf chunk, so a file filled with repeated headers causes a new shrinking copy on every iteration and quadratic CPU work. The condition is reachable through Image.getexif(), Image._getexif(), and ImageOps.exif_transpose(), including common photo-upload rotation workflows. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| Moov signedxml is a pure Go library for processing signed XML documents. Prior to 1.4.1, ExclusiveCanonicalization in exclusivecanonicalization.go copies the complete accumulated namespace map at every nested element before reference digest or signature checks. Attacker-controlled XML containing deeply nested elements with many unused namespace declarations causes quadratic allocation growth with depth and linear growth with prefixes per level, allowing a comparatively small document to consume multiple gigabytes of memory and terminate the process. The condition is reachable through ValidateReferences without a valid signature, matching certificate, or prior authentication, and it does not bypass signature verification. This issue is fixed in version 1.4.1. |
| OW2 ASM 3.0 before 9.11 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows attackers to exhaust CPU by supplying crafted class files processed with ClassWriter.COMPUTE_FRAMES. Attackers can craft methods that make the unbounded MethodWriter.computeAllFrames() fix point algorithm converge slowly, tying up transforming threads for unbounded time. |
| OW2 ASM 3.0 before 9.11 contains an uncontrolled memory allocation vulnerability in the asm-commons JSRInlinerAdapter that inlines JSR/RET subroutines without memory or work limits. Attackers can supply a crafted class file with nested subroutines to force O(2^n) memory allocation, causing an OutOfMemoryError that crashes the JVM. |
| Mistune before 3.3.0 contains an inefficient algorithmic complexity vulnerability in parse_link_text that allows remote attackers to cause denial of service through unbalanced square brackets. Attackers can submit markdown containing long runs of unmatched brackets to mistune.html(), triggering repeated forward scans that stall worker processes for minutes. |
| Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity in erlang-jose allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a CPU-exhaustion denial of service by submitting a crafted RSA JSON Web Key.
When an application parses an untrusted JWK through the public jose_jwk:from_binary/1 or jose_jwk:from_map/1 API (or the Elixir wrappers JOSE.JWK.from_binary/1 and JOSE.JWK.from_map/1), an RSA private key that supplies d, e, and n but omits all Chinese Remainder Theorem parameters (p, q, dp, dq, qi) is routed into convert_sfm_to_crt/1, which tries to recover the missing primes by factoring the modulus. The three integers are read straight from the base64url input and are never validated as a real RSA key. When the modulus cannot be split into two factors (for example, when it is itself prime), the search loop convert_sfm_to_crt_find_p/6 performs a modular exponentiation over the attacker-sized modulus on every iteration and never succeeds. A single request of a few hundred bytes forces close to one CPU-second of work before an internal one-second watchdog kills the worker, and a larger modulus raises the cost further. By flooding such requests an attacker can saturate every scheduler and deny service, without credentials, a valid RSA key, or any special configuration.
This issue affects jose: from 1.7.7 before 1.11.13. |
| destructive_command_guard (dcg) is a command-line safety tool that blocks destructive shell commands before AI coding agents run them. Prior to 0.6.6, nested or unclosed substitutions are recursively rescanned after an inner scan returns unterminated, producing exponential-time work. The affected scanners are reached through split_command_segments in src/packs/mod.rs. a destructive command followed by nested or unclosed $( or $(( sequences. nested or unclosed $( and $(( sequences cause repeated rescanning of the remaining command suffix. a hung PreToolUse hook fails open, allowing the destructive command to proceed. This issue is fixed in version 0.6.6. |
| markdown-it is a Markdown parser. Prior to 14.3.3 and 15.0.3, when the html option or commonmark preset is enabled and the constructs occur inside a paragraph, attacker-controlled Markdown containing repeated unterminated inline HTML comments, processing instructions, declarations, or CDATA sections reaches src/rules_inline/html_inline.ts. Its HTML_TAG_RE match searches the remaining suffix for the appropriate terminator; when no terminator is present, parsing advances to the next opener and repeats the match over overlapping input, causing quadratic processing and denial of service through event-loop blocking or an unresponsive browser main thread. HTML blocks and the default HTML-disabled configuration are not affected by these payloads. This issue is fixed in versions 14.3.3 and 15.0.3. |
| Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity vulnerability in the header integer parser of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to consume server CPU via a content-length value or a Host or :authority port made of thousands of digits.
Bandit.Headers.parse_integer/2 in lib/bandit/headers.ex builds the number one digit at a time with no limit on the digit count, allocating a new bignum at each step, so one value costs time quadratic in its length. It runs on raw request input over HTTP/1 and HTTP/2, before any range check. Over HTTP/2, a 4,000-digit value can be stored once in the HPACK dynamic table and re-sent on each new stream for about one byte: 124 KB of traffic kept the server busy for 27.9 s.
This issue affects bandit: from 1.0.0-pre.7 before 1.14.0. |
| Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity vulnerability in the HTTP/2 implementation of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust server CPU via small SETTINGS or connection-level WINDOW_UPDATE frames. The attacker opens thousands of streams whose responses block on the connection send window, then sends cheap frames that each make the server walk the whole queue of blocked sends. In the reporter's run, with 3,000 blocked streams a single 9-byte SETTINGS frame took 133 ms to process.
do_pending_sends/2 in lib/bandit/http2/connection.ex retries every queued send and, before each retry, removes that entry from the queue with List.delete/2, so one frame costs O(n²) list operations for n blocked streams. max_concurrent_streams defaults to :infinity, so the attacker chooses n.
This issue affects bandit: from 0.3.4 before 1.14.0. |
| OW2 ASM 3.0 before 9.11 contains a quadratic memory allocation vulnerability in MethodWriter.computeMaxStackAndLocal() and computeAllFrames() when using COMPUTE_MAXS or COMPUTE_FRAMES. Attackers can supply a crafted class file with thousands of overlapping exception handlers, causing excessive Edge allocations and an OutOfMemoryError that crashes the JVM. |
| GraphQL-core is a Python port of the GraphQL.js reference implementation. From 3.0.0 until 3.2.12 and 3.3.0rc1, the OverlappingFieldsCanBeMerged rule in specified_rules repeatedly compares fields that share response names and recursively re-compares flattened inline fragments during the validation phase. The prior named-fragment memoization does not cover this path, so nested repeated inline fragments can drive quadratic and worst-case O(n²·m²) CPU work before any resolver or AST-based depth or complexity control runs. An unauthenticated remote attacker can submit a shallow, highly compressible GraphQL query that pins a worker process and can saturate a multi-worker service. This issue is fixed in versions 3.2.12 and 3.3.0rc1. |
| toml-node is a TOML parser for Node.js and the browser. Prior to 5.0.1, the toml.parse() compiler's addTableArray() function in lib/compiler.js rescans the complete assignedPaths and valueAssignments bookkeeping sets for every array-of-tables header. Distinct [[name]] paths are not pruned, so a document with many such headers causes quadratic synchronous work and can block the Node.js event loop, denying service to other operations in the process. This issue is fixed in version 5.0.1. |
| Mistune before 3.3.0 contains an algorithmic complexity vulnerability in the inline link parser that allows unauthenticated attackers to exhaust CPU by submitting long runs of unmatched '[' characters. Attackers can send small markdown payloads that trigger O(N^2) parse_link_text and parse_link_label probing, occupying rendering workers for 30+ seconds per 16 KB input. |
| An attacker able to supply a crafted XML document to an application using QXmlStreamReader can cause disproportionate CPU consumption during parsing, making the application unresponsive (denial of service). Exploitation requires only that the application parse attacker-influenced XML; no authentication, privileges, or user interaction beyond ingesting the input are needed. There is no loss of confidentiality or integrity — no data disclosure, data modification, or code execution — and the impact is contained to the affected process. |
| In a BIND resolver, inbound DNS protocol messages with a particular structure will result in additional processing, with no limit imposed by BIND. A DNS message with a maliciously large number of such structures will cause BIND to consume disproportionate amounts of CPU time and memory during processing.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.29, 9.21.0 through 9.21.26, 9.11.3-S1 through 9.18.50-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.29-S1. |
| Django REST framework is a toolkit for building Web APIs. Prior to 3.18.2, DefaultContentNegotiation.get_accept_list in rest_framework/negotiation.py accepts an unbounded number and aggregate size of Accept tokens, while select_renderer in that file repeatedly invokes _MediaType parsing from rest_framework/utils/mediatypes.py for each attacker-controlled token, every renderer, and forced 406 renegotiation. A remote unauthenticated client can send many distinct media types containing large quoted parameter values with numerous semicolons, causing Django's parameter parser and DRF's repeated parsing structure to consume disproportionate CPU. Requests to any reachable endpoint can pin synchronous workers for prolonged periods, and concurrent requests can make the service unavailable until the requests stop. This issue is fixed in version 3.18.2. |
| Text::CSV_XS versions before 1.65 for Perl allow quadratic CPU use by copying the unparsed remainder per record of CR-only input in getline.
With eol unset, the default, getline reads with Perl's default line separator, so input with CR-only line endings arrives as one chunk. After each record the parser copies the whole unparsed remainder into a new buffer, which the next call parses and copies again, so the work grows with the square of the input size.
A reader with default options that is sent CSV with classic Mac line endings spends seconds of CPU time on a megabyte of input. |
| In Eclipse Vert.x versions [4.0.0, 4.5.34] or [5.0.0,5.0.12] or [5.1.0,5.1.9] or [5.2.0, 5.2.0], the uniqueItems keyword validation uses an O(n²) pairwise comparison loop with no short-circuit or size limit. A remote unauthenticated attacker can submit a moderately-sized JSON array that consumes disproportionate CPU time, leading to denial of service.
The impacted component is io.vertx:vertx-json-schema.
The following Vert.x modules depend on vertx-json-schema and are also affected:
